To promote motorcycle safety and the Virginia Rider Training Program, the Virginia DMV has launched a new campaign developed by Two Tango Collaborative. The campaign emphasizes the lifesaving benefits of motorcycle training through an authentic portrayal of "close calls" that resonate with riders. Executive Creative Director Erin Sarro highlighted the importance of authenticity, noting that the campaign needed to genuinely reflect the motorcycling subculture. To achieve this, they selected a director and actor who are both experienced riders, ensuring that every detail, from bikes to body movements, was accurate. The 30-second commercial, produced in partnership with Richmond-based Spang TV and directed by Trevor Paperny, was filmed around Virginia, with audio mixed by In Your Ear Studios. The campaign will run in Virginia through early September 2024.
