Semi Factory
Tesla's Semi Factory is a 1.8-million-square-foot plant next to Gigafactory Nevada in Sparks, built only to make the Tesla Semi, its electric Class 8 truck. The first truck came off the high-volume line in April 2026, and Tesla opened the plant officially at a livestreamed rollout event on 24 September 2026. The plant is designed to build 50,000 trucks a year, about 1,000 a week, with the Standard Range, Long Range and European versions all made on one line. Most truck plants assemble parts bought from suppliers. This one makes much of the truck itself, including stampings, 4680 battery cells and packs on one of Tesla's most automated battery lines, drive axles, high-voltage distribution units, cooling modules and seats. It is also the first plant to powder-coat a complete Class 8 tractor, and it moves fully assembled frames on a heavy-duty overhead conveyor. Tesla says building this much in-house is how it brings the truck's cost down, so fleets have a cheaper way to move heavy freight off diesel and onto electricity.
