The Marie Keating Foundation and Boys+Girls have launched MoleMaps, a nationwide campaign encouraging Irish people to take sun protection as seriously at home as they do on holiday. Addressing Ireland’s high rate of skin cancer, the campaign transforms the shape of every Irish county into a cancerous mole, using geotargeted outdoor, digital and audio executions to remind residents that the local sun can be just as harmful as the sun in destinations like Spain or Australia. Running throughout July and August, the campaign promotes simple SunSmart behaviours such as wearing SPF, limiting sun exposure and checking for new or changing moles, with the aim of changing attitudes towards sun safety and reducing preventable cases of skin cancer.
