Always Been Here
Since 1939 one bottle has sat quietly in the background of Canadian life, and this film makes it the single constant in a trip through nearly a century of homes, parties and traditions. Every room from the 1940s to today was rebuilt in CG from scratch, with period architecture, furniture and more than 500 bespoke props, each one aged with scuffs and everyday wear, while the bottle, cap, label and velvet bag were recreated as they looked in 1959, 1979 and 2026. The finished CG was then printed out to 8mm, 16mm, 35mm and VHS, so the grain, warmth and flicker are real, and the result plays less like a digital reconstruction than a family memory.
